UC San Diego Health System is one of only 167 hospitals nationwide to receive the American College of Cardiology Foundation's (ACCF) NCDR ACTION Registry-GWTG (Get with the Guidelines) Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2011. The quality-improvement program recognizes UC San Diego Health System's success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that the team at the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients.
"Receiving this 'Get with the Guidelines' Gold award means that our staff consistently followed the national treatment guidelines and met performance standards of at least 85 percent," explained Lisa Murphy, Administrator for the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. "For our patients, this means - quite simply - that they receive the most up-to-date care available, in a timely manner, and we meet their every need."
"Get With The Guidelines" addresses coronary artery disease, heart failure and stroke. Currently more than 1,400 hospitals participate in the program. UC San Diego Health System received Gold distinction in 2008, 2009 and 2010; Silver in 2007, and Bronze in 2006.
