Environmental Services Managers are encouraged to nominate the housekeeper of their choice for the second annual Hygiene SpecialistExcellence award, which is sponsored by UMF Corporation, developer of the PerfectCLEAN® Infection Prevention System.

Nominations are welcome on the form provided at www.perfectclean.com or at UMF PerfectCLEAN®'s booth at AHE's 2011 Annual Conference & Marketplace, being held September 25-28 in Kissimmee, FL. Nominations may be submitted on or before Dec. 31, 2011, and should include information on how the nominee has demonstrated the highest professional standards and diligence in supporting infection prevention. The recipient will be announced on Jan. 15, 2012. The Hygiene SpecialistExcellence award includes an all-expense-paid vacation for two to South Beach, FL, including airfare and accommodations.

The award is part of UMF's new PerfectCLEAN® Hygiene Specialist program, which is focused on training, education and ongoing reinforcement of infection prevention "best practices" for Environmental Services. The program increases awareness and promotes safe-patient environment standards related to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

UMF is a leader in developing high-performance infection prevention products for the healthcare, hospitality and pharmaceutical markets. Last year, the company received hundreds of nominations from Environmental Service Managers from across the country.

"Environmental Services is the first line of defense in eliminating HAIs," said George Clarke, UMF CEO. "The Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award acknowledges their invaluable contribution to providing a safe patient environment and reducing HAIs. We want to help elevate their role within the hospital hierarchy and give them the respect they're due."

In addition to a focus on its Hygiene Specialist Program, UMF offers a wide range of products made from high-performance, microdenier fibers with built-in antimicrobial protection. Products used as part of the PerfectCLEAN® System trap and remove pathogens; prevent cross contamination; provide excellent ROI by reducing costs through streamlined processes and standardization; and increase productivity and speed of room turns.
