A new publication explains how standards-based interoperable digital identities are needed to transform healthcare to a paperless and fully electronic business environment. It is being issued in conjunction with the annual meeting of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), February 20-24 in Las Vegas.
Titled The Role of Standards-Based Interoperable Digital Identities in Healthcare, the free 20-page publication contains brief essays by a legal authority, an authority on e-Prescribing and a leading provider of universal identity services to the healthcare industry. It was produced by SAFE-BioPharma®, the global digital identity and digital signature standard.
The three contributors are:
Timothy Reiniger, Esq., a member of the Electronic Discovery and Digital Evidence Committee of the American Bar Association, and Director of the Digital Services Group of FutureLaw, LLC, Richmond, Virginia.
Lee Ann Stember, President of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs, Inc. (NCPDP), the ANSI-accredited standards development organization which has led transformation in the pharmacy services sector by creating and promoting standards for electronic healthcare transactions.
Tracy Hulver, chief identity strategist, enterprise identity solutions, Verizon Enterprise Solutions, a leading provider of managed mobility, IT and consulting services. More than 95 percent of Fortune 1000 healthcare companies use Verizon services.
The publication also contains a white paper explaining how National Cancer Institute researchers and cancer researchers in the private sector use interoperable digital identities, digital signatures and cloud computing to accelerate drug development.
