KF scientist to speak at William Paterson University, March 1

John DeLuca, PhD, vice president for research at Kessler Foundation, is the featured speaker at the grand opening of the new Science Complex at William Paterson University's College of Science and Health. Dr. DeLuca, a well known expert in cognitive function, will discuss "Neuroimaging, Brain and Behavior: New Opportunities for the Future," on March 1, 2012 12:30 to 1:05 pm in the Science East Lecture Hall. "The new Science Complex will advance undergraduate and graduate science education at William Paterson University," said Dr DeLuca. "As an alumnus of the University, I am pleased to see this commitment to science, especially the focus on faculty and student-faculty research." The new Science Complex comprises eight departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Anthropology and Psychology, as well as graduate programs in Biology and Biotechnology. William Paterson University serves more than 11,500 students through five colleges: Arts and Communication, Cotsakos College of Business, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Health.

John DeLuca, PhD, oversees Kessler Foundation Research Center, which conduct physical and cognitive research in spinal cord injury, brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS) and stroke. He specializes in the study of disorders of memory and information processing in TBI and MS and has published more than 200 articles, books, and chapters in these areas. His collaborative work in cognitive rehabilitation extends to Italy and China. He has obtained more than $26 million in grant funding and is the editor/co-editor of four recent books, including the Encyclopedia of Clinical Neuropsychology, the first encyclopedia of its kind. He often presents at national and international conferences and contributes to continuing education for professionals and consumers. He is a professor in the Departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Neurology & Neurosciences at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School, and a licensed psychologist in the states of New Jersey and New York. He is a scientific advisor to William Paterson University and consultant to the New Jersey Devils hockey team and the New York Red Bulls soccer team.
