The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) and the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) have entered into an exciting new strategic alliance to advance support for pharmaceutical science education.
"AAPS has had a strong partnership with AFPE for many years," says John Lisack, Jr., executive director of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. "We're glad that given our similar audience, we'll be able to collaborate and advance pharmaceutical education by supporting future scientists. We're thrilled that this collaboration will enable us to serve these students better."
"This alliance is a major milestone in realizing our mutual goal to support the education of pharmaceutical scientists for productive careers in industry, academia, and government", said Ernest Mario, Ph.D., chair of the AFPE Board of Directors.
Under the terms of the agreement, a five-person Alliance Governing Board will be established comprised of the AFPE Chair and Vice-Chair, the Chair of the AFPE Board of Grants, and two representatives appointed by the AAPS Executive Council. The AAPS Executive Director and AFPE President will serve as co-moderators of the Alliance Governing Board to support its operations. The AAPS Executive Director will also be an ex-officio, non-voting member of the AFPE Board of Directors.
AFPE will relocate its offices in early 2013 from Rockville, MD to the AAPS headquarters in Arlington, VA to achieve closer communication regarding common goals and to maximize the opportunities to coordinate activities that advance pharmaceutical science education.
