NewsGuard 100/100 Score

The go-to source for excellence in continuing medical education, Physicians' Education Resource®, LLC (PER®), will host the 11th Annual School of Breast Oncology® November 7-10 at the Emory University Conference Center in Atlanta, GA.

The conference will be chaired by Joyce O'Shaughnessy, MD, co-director of breast cancer research at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center, Texas Oncology, and The US Oncology Network in Dallas, TX, and developed in collaboration with a curriculum committee composed of leading experts in breast cancer representing a variety of disciplines.

The School of Breast Oncology® is directed toward medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists whose primary practice concentration is breast cancer and who intend to reinforce their knowledge base and expand their expertise in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and management. The program will provide a comprehensive overview for fellows or oncologists who are new to practice, but also serves as a valuable refresher course for the oncologist who has been in practice for several years or more.

This unique 4-day interactive certified CME activity provides participants with an immersion in breast cancer treatment and management using an academic curriculum approach. Sessions will review most important aspects of breast cancer, including biology, diagnostics, prevention, surgery, radiation therapy, systemic treatment, and patient-centered issues, with lectures presented by leading clinical investigators. A major focus of the activity's curriculum is application-to-practice through case-based learning, with formal and informal discussions integrated into the program each day. In addition, participants have the opportunity each evening to present their own cases and to explore with experts and colleagues how evolving data can be applied to the challenges they face in their own practices. Online tools allow participants to assess their practice prior to attending and again following the meeting. PER® makes the full online curriculum available to those who cannot attend the live meeting.

"Attendees of the 2012 School of Breast Oncology® commented that they attend to recharge their practice and note that the collegiate atmosphere puts them in the 'learning mode.' PER® is pleased to present this unique opportunity," said Deborah Augustus, vice president of independent medical education at Physicians' Education Resource.
