Smart Use receives Primary Supplier status award for provision of NHS inventory management solutions

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Smart Use Solutions, the leading provider of inventory management software to the healthcare sector today announced it has been awarded Primary Supplier status for the provision of NHS inventory management solutions.

Smart Use Solutions has achieved the highest score in a national competitive tender to become the Primary Framework Supplier on the Solent Supplies Team (SST) National Framework Agreement for the provision of inventory management systems within the NHS. The Primary Supplier status means that it can offer its solution direct to NHS Trusts without the need for any form of tendering including mini-competitions.

Arif Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Smart Use, comments, “We are delighted to see our solution re-appointed to the Solent Supplies National Framework. We have secured a number of implementations already and our primary supplier status streamlines the effort required by Trusts and it can significantly help to accrue savings faster to meet mandatory targets – and release cash savings for front line services.”

The Smart Use solution, built on a Microsoft ERP platform, enables inventory optimisation, service line reporting and patient level costing. The GS1 certified solution provides NHS Trusts with analytics to ensure the right level of stock at the right place and right time – thus reducing the need for unwanted supplies. The automation and streamlining of inventory within complex, acute hospital settings is also identified in the Department of Health report, “Better Procurement, Better Value, Better Care: A procurement development programme for the NHS”.

Ahmed adds, “NHS Trusts operate in a cash-constrained and efficiency orientated environment, at a time of changing demographic and healthcare needs. With a focus on reducing non-pay expenditure, Trusts require an easy to use inventory management solution with carefully considered functionality and flexible reporting capabilities. Customer feedback indicates that NHS Trusts select Smart Use because if offers a robust and comprehensive inventory management solution designed specifically around complex NHS processes.”

Smart Use Solutions has seen a three-fold increase in the volume of inbound enquiries from Trusts keen to secure savings we have achieved for our client, one of which has estimated £6.4 million of post-implementation savings.
