Treato, the leading source of "patient voice" insights from across the social web, today announced the release of a new infographic about heart health based on a Treato analysis of over a million mentions of heart disease in patient and caregiver social media conversations.

The publication of the infographic is timed to coincide with National Wear Red Day, an awareness day sponsored by the American Heart Association, since today heart disease and stroke kill one in three women and is 80% preventable, according to the AHA's Web site.

Among the items disclosed in the infographic:

  • Food is a top discussion - in close to 20% of all heart disease discussions - mentioning things from diet types to alcohol intake
  • Pregnancy and stress were among the 2 top key topics discussed by women posting about heart disease
  • Females' social media posts about heart health and stroke have multiplied by a factor of 6 since AHA started its national Go Red for Women campaign

"Seeing the increase in female posts on heart disease is encouraging. More and more women are discussing heart health and stroke, which is where AHA's has been focusing their efforts with the Go Red awareness campaign these past 10 years," said Ido Hadari, CEO of Treato. "Through tracking health conversations in real time using solutions such as Treato's, organizations and consumers gain unique insights from the experiences of patients and caregivers that in turn make a positive difference in patient health outcomes."

Other interesting facts include:

  • 75% of discussions mentioning Heart Disease and anxiety are from patients and caregivers under the age of 40
  • Caffeine is among the top mentions of Heart Disease and food
