William’s Walk, Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW’s annual event to raise the profile of juvenile arthritis was held on Saturday 21st March at Parramatta Park and the day was a huge success. Together with the help of supporters and the wider community, William’s Walk topped off an Arthritis Awareness Week dedicated to spreading the message that ‘Kids Get Arthritis Too’!

Hundreds of people joined Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW in walking Parramatta Park in aid of juvenile arthritis, a condition that is rarely discussed in the community. William’s Walk was crucial in getting the word out that juvenile arthritis affects 6000+ children throughout NSW, raising over $50,000 in the process.

The money raised at William’s Walk contributes to Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW’s range of support services for children with juvenile arthritis, including contributing to the running of two special camps, Camp Twinkletoes and Camp Footloose, along with other much-needed support services.

The two camps are specifically designed for children and teenagers diagnosed with juvenile arthritis and create a fun environment where children can unwind and learn more about their condition and meet people their own age going through similar experiences.

Jannine Jackson, CEO of Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW is thrilled and delighted with the success of William’s Walk and the support of the community in raising awareness for juvenile arthritis.

“William’s Walk marked the end of a hugely successful Arthritis Awareness Week, where juvenile arthritis was put firmly in the spotlight and we endeavoured to spread the message that ‘Kids Get Arthritis Too!’

“William’s Walk is the latest milestone in our efforts to support for more than 6000+ children across NSW with juvenile arthritis and we wouldn’t have been able to raise over $50,000 without our members and supporters.

“Our children’s camps will benefit from William’s Walk and as a result, we’ll be able to change the lives of more children with arthritis and help them take back control of their condition,” said Jannine.

William’s Walk has been running as an annual event since 2012 and is held in memory of William Harris, who passed away, aged 6, from complications due to his arthritis.
