Central Logic, the healthcare industry's leading provider of innovative patient flow software and consultative expertise, today announced it is expanding its flagship industry summit from a single annual gathering held each summer in its hometown of Salt Lake City to a semi-annual pair of conferences staged each spring and fall closer to both coasts. As part of the initiative, Central Logic is rebranding its successful event series to Patient Flow Summit to more accurately reflect the changing nature and growing importance of patient movements in today's generation of hospitals and healthcare systems.

“In addition, by rebranding the event and by moving to a twice-a-year schedule, we hope to reach and educate additional healthcare decision makers about the financial, operating, and care-driven benefits of adopting and implementing comprehensive patient flow strategies in their respective organizations.”

Central Logic also announced today that the next edition of its widely-anticipated Patient Flow Summit will take place April 11-13, 2011, at the Nashville Marriott Hotel at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. The company plans to reveal the dates and venue of its fall summit in the first quarter of 2011.

Now in its third year of operation, Central Logic's Patient Flow Summit is the healthcare sector's only national forum that addresses the myriad financial, operational, and technological issues surrounding the design and management of patient flow processes, which include the transport, admission, transfer, and discharge of patients in diverse medical environments. The company's signature showcase features presentations by prominent, senior-level patient flow, bed management, information technology (IT), and financial executives from the nation's leading healthcare systems. Attendees included transfer center directors, patient placement managers, discharge planning supervisors, emergency department directors, chief medical officers, physician leaders, and finance and IT directors.

"In conjunction with the ongoing convergence of patient flow and bed management processes, and their continued evolution as increasingly important sources of revenue generation, operational efficiencies, and personnel productivity, we felt it was critical to expand the scope, content, and dates of our annual conference to more effectively address these issues and to better serve the needs of hospital and healthcare system leaders," said Garrett Lyman, vice president of marketing at Central Logic. "In addition, by rebranding the event and by moving to a twice-a-year schedule, we hope to reach and educate additional healthcare decision makers about the financial, operating, and care-driven benefits of adopting and implementing comprehensive patient flow strategies in their respective organizations."

The 2010 summit featured presentations from Dr. Darin Vercillo, CEO of Central Logic and a practicing hospital physician, and an impressive line-up of speakers, including Josette Beran, executive director of Cleveland Clinic Medical; Ron Marshall, vice president of system development at Sutter Health; Omar Qassom, director of specialty service line development at HCA Gulf Coast Division; and Rick Newman, medical call center director at Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA). Other highly-regarded patient flow management professionals served as topical session presenters, and led roundtable and panel discussions offering practical, real-world instruction and insight.
