Blocking miR-375 microRNA in ERalha-positive breast cancer cells slows down cancer cell growth

Two thirds of breast cancers are ERalpha-positive, i.e., many estrogen receptors of the ERalpha- type are found in their cells. "These molecules can interact with the estrogen hormone and, thus, even lead to cancer," explains Dr. Joerg Hoheisel; molecular biologist at DKFZ. BioSante announces sale of oncolytic virus technology to Cold Genesys

BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today announced it sold to Cold Genesys, Inc. exclusive, worldwide rights to develop and commercialize its oncolytic virus technology. The technology includes CG0070, a replication-competent adenovirus that has completed a Phase I clinical trial for treatment of superficial bladder cancer. In exchange for the technology, BioSante received a 19.9 percent ownership position in Cold Genesys and a $95,000 upfront cash payment and is eligible to receive future milestone and royalty payments.

After recent consultation with the FDA in November 2010, Merrion is preparing for its Phase III study for Orazol. If successful, the Phase III study will allow a new drug application for Orazol to be made under the FDA's abbreviated approval procedure section 505(b)(2) using a single Phase III study.
