Nektar commences dosing in Phase 1 study of NKTR-102 in combination with 5-FU/leucovorin

Nektar Therapeutics announced today that the first patients have been dosed in a new Phase 1 dose-escalation clinical study to evaluate NKTR-102, the company's lead oncology compound, in combination with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)/leucovorin in refractory solid tumor cancers. The study is being conducted at University Hospitals Case Medical Center of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Infinity commences enrollment in IPI-493 Phase 1 clinical trial for advanced hematologic malignancies

Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc., an innovative drug discovery and development company, today announced that patients are being enrolled in a Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating IPI-493 in patients with advanced hematologic malignancies. This multi-center study is the second clinical trial of IPI-493, Infinity's oral heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) chaperone inhibitor.

Phase 1 clinical trial of XMT-1107 initiated in patients with refractory advanced solid tumors

Mersana Therapeutics, a platform-based cancer therapeutics company, today announced that it has initiated a Phase 1 clinical trial to study the safety and pharmacokinetics of XMT-1107 in patients with refractory advanced solid tumors. XMT-1107 is a novel anti-angiogenic fumagillin analog that employs Mersana's Fleximer platform. Mersana's XMT-1001, a conjugate of Fleximer and camptothecin, is currently completing a Phase 1 study.

MJFF supports Ceregene's CERE-120 Phase 2 study for PD with $2.5M award

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) will provide $2.5 million to support Ceregene Inc.'s new Phase 2 study of CERE-120. This novel gene therapy product delivers the gene for neurturin, a potent neurotrophic (growth) factor that has shown potential to improve the status of degenerating neurons in both preclinical and clinical studies. CERE-120 has the potential to improve motor function as well as slow Parkinson's disease (PD) progression.
