Children's Hospital Boston develops new web site, releases video message on current state of stem cell research

Exactly one year to the day after President Obama's historic decision to reverse an eight-year restriction on federally funded embryonic stem cell research, the Children's Hospital Boston Stem Cell Program today announced the development of a unique, comprehensive web site and released a candid video message from its top researchers on the current state of stem cell research to introduce the new site: stemcell.childrenshospital.org.

Medicare False Claims Act allegations: Rush University Medical Center to pay over $1.5M

Rush University Medical Center has agreed to pay $1,547,200 plus interest to resolve allegations that the facility violated the False Claims Act, the Justice Department announced today. Rush is alleged to have submitted false claims to Medicare during the period 2000 through 2007 by entering into certain leasing arrangements for office space with two individual physicians and three physician practice groups that violated the Stark Law.

Cellectar, Inc., a privately held radiopharmaceutical company that designs and develops products to detect, treat and monitor human cancers, today announced that enrollment for its Phase I dosimetry trial for its lead drug candidate, (131)I-CLR1404 has been completed. Results of this trial will be used to set the starting dose in a follow-on Phase I dose escalation study planned for later this year. Celltrion develops novel human monoclonal antibodies against influenza virus infection

Celltrion, Inc., a South Korean biopharmaceutical company, has developed novel human monoclonal antibodies against influenza virus infection, which neutralize a broad spectrum of influenza viruses, including pandemic H1N1 and the deadly H5N1 avian influenza virus. Preliminary tests in laboratory animals indicate that the novel human monoclonal antibodies can be used to prevent disease when given either before or after infection.
