Comparative study reveals no clinical advantages of mobile bearing knee systems over fixed bearing knee systems

Stryker Corporation's Orthopaedics' division today announced at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Conference that its recent FDA-monitored Investigational Device Exemption study found no statistical difference in clinical outcomes between its mobile bearing and traditional fixed bearing knee systems. SensAble Technologies' digital dentistry product line receives $8M infusion

SensAble Technologies, Inc®, a leading provider of 3D modeling software, haptic devices and dental restoration design and fabrication solutions, announced that it has received an $8 million investment to propel sales, marketing and engineering efforts for its digital dentistry product line. Existing investor HLM Venture Partners led the round and was joined by North Bridge Venture Partners, both of whom are headquartered in the Boston area, and have extensive expertise with medical device company funding.

DiagnoCure: Global studies confirm clinical utility of PROGENSA PCA3 test

DiagnoCure, Inc., a life sciences company commercializing high-value cancer diagnostic tests and delivering laboratory services, announced that the clinical utility of the PROGENSA(R) PCA3 test, developed and commercialized by its partner Gen-Probe, was confirmed in two large worldwide studies, conducted in a subset of patients in GlaxoSmithKline's REDUCE trial of dutasteride. The results demonstrate that PCA3 can help determine whether men suspected of having prostate cancer should undergo a repeat biopsy and can predict the risk of having an aggressive cancer.

National Dentex reports net income of $429,000 for fourth-quarter of 2009

For the fourth quarter of 2009, National Dentex reported sales of $38,174,000, which was 7.5% lower than the fourth quarter sales in 2008 of $41,264,000. Net income for the quarter was $429,000, or $.07 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $5,286,000, or a loss of $.93 per diluted share in 2008.
