The pelvic floor is a thin but strong sheet of muscle and connective tissue that closes off the pelvic cavity from below. It supports the pelvic organs, which include the urinary bladder, the uterus, cervix and vagina, and the last part of the large bowel (the rectum) in women. In men, it contains the bladder and the rectum.

Sports hernia were often difficult to diagnose and prior to this new repair had a lengthy rehabilitation time.

In the November 2009 issue of the Journal of Urology, Stanford Medical School researcher Dr. Rodney Anderson and researchers at the National Center for Pelvic Pain Research, in a new study, demonstrated a high correlation between the location of painful trigger points inside the pelvic floor muscles of men with chronic prostatitis and the location in the body where they routinely complain of pain.
