Five years after cancer treatment, many survivors still suffer symptoms

When people finish treatment for cancer, they want to bounce back to their former vital selves as quickly as possible. But a new Northwestern Medicine study -- one of the largest survivor studies ever conducted - shows many survivors still suffer moderate to severe problems with pain, fatigue, sleep, memory and concentration three to five years after treatment has ended.

According to pediatricians, children must not be given energy drinks with potentially harmful caffeine levels. They need to understand the difference between energy drinks and sports drinks. Most kids don't need energy drinks that are heavily marketed to them, the American Academy of Pediatrics said in a report published in Monday's issue of the journal Pediatrics.

According to leading researchers there is more evidence than ever before that fiber-rich foods prevent bowel cancer. They analyzed the most up-to-date research on the disease and said there is now “convincing” evidence that foods containing fiber can offer protection. An earlier 2007 concluded that dietary fiber “probably” cuts the risk of the disease but this new analysis is stronger they say. New evidence includes research that says three servings a day of cereal fiber and whole grains reduce the risk.
