In laboratory experiments, women - but not men - who had been exposed to frustrating noise stress ate more cheese, chocolate, potato chips and popcorn after the stressful session was over.

Expert panel to review toxicity associated with exposure to acrylamide

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will hold an expert panel meeting May 17-19, in Alexandria, Virginia, to review the scientific evidence regarding the potential reproductive and/or developmental toxicity associated with exposure to acrylamide.

All Black urges allergy sufferers to play it safe

All Black Kees Meeuws is fronting an Allergy New Zealand poster campaign urging allergy sufferers to play it safe and protect a life as part of Allergy Awareness Week, which kicks off May 10, 2004. The poster sports a bare-chested and tattooed Kees with his six-week-old daughter, Inéz (who is now three months old).

Sainsbury's potato chips cause allergic reactions

The Food Standards Agency is today warning people with allergies who have bought Sainsbury's potato wedges that some could cause an allergic reaction.

British government warns couch potatoes

The warning came as the Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, published a new landmark report on physical activity and health - At Least Five A Week. Smoking and unhealthy diet have long been established as major causal factors for chronic disease but the report says that inactive living is equally important.
