Updated Phase 1 study data of ponatinib in patients with refractory CML, Ph+ ALL presented at ASH

ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced updated clinical data from a fully enrolled and ongoing Phase 1 study of its investigational pan-BCR-ABL inhibitor, ponatinib, in patients with resistant and refractory chronic myeloid leukemia and Philadelphia-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Phase 1 clinical data: ARRY-520 shows positive preliminary results in treating multiple myeloma

Array BioPharma Inc. today announced the presentation of positive Phase 1 clinical data for its novel kinesin spindle protein inhibitor, ARRY-520. The data, which were presented at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology in Orlando, Florida, indicate that ARRY-520 was well tolerated and has shown encouraging preliminary results in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Research on BCR-ABL inhibitors for treating ALL, CML presented at ASH Annual Meeting

Over the past decade, significant advances have been made in the treatment of leukemia through the ongoing development of gene-based targeted therapies. Research that will be presented today at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology provides greater understanding of the optimal use of several BCR-ABL inhibitors for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia, and how a new gene target functions for several myeloid malignancies.

Immunomedics reports results of milatuzumab-based combination treatments for NHL patients

Immunomedics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development of monoclonal antibody-based products for the targeted treatment of cancer, autoimmune and other serious diseases, today reported that combination treatment with milatuzumab, the first humanized anti-CD74 antibody in clinical testing, and veltuzumab, a second-generation humanized anti-CD20 antibody, resulted in therapeutic responses in heavily pretreated and rituximab-refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients.

Clinical data of PCI-32765 in patients with CLL presented at ASH Annual Meeting

Pharmacyclics, Inc. today announced data from three Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia presentations at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting describing the Btk-selective inhibitor PCI-32765. Arthritis drug reduces incidence of non-melanoma skin cancers

A widely-used arthritis drug reduces the incidence of non-melanoma skin cancers - the most common cancers in humans - according to a study published this week in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The COX-2 inhibitor celecoxib (brand name Celebrex), which is currently approved for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and acute pain in adults led to a 62 percent reduction in non-melanoma skin cancers, which includes basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas.
