Local hyperthermia treatment induces mechanism of anti-tumor immune resistance

A combination of iron-oxide nanoparticles and an alternating magnetic field, which together generate heat, have activated an immune system response to tumors in mice according to an accepted manuscript by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Center researchers in the journal Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine released online on February 24, 2014.

Washington University professor to receive AACR-CRI Lloyd J. Old Award in Cancer Immunology

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) will present Robert D. Schreiber, Ph.D., Alumni Endowed Professor of Pathology and Immunology, Professor of Molecular Microbiology, and Director of the Center for Human Immunology and Immunotherapy Programs at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., with the second annual AACR-CRI Lloyd J. Old Award in Cancer Immunology at the AACR Annual Meeting 2014, to be held in San Diego, Calif., April 5-9.

FDA approves CSC’s Phase II clinical trial for cancer immunotherapy in women with ovarian cancer

California Stem Cell, Inc. (CSC) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Company's application to begin a Phase II clinical trial exploring the potential of a patient-specific cancer immunotherapy in women with Stage III or IV ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, along with five other elite academic institutions, will share an unprecedented total of $540 million in new financial support from Ludwig Cancer Research, on behalf of its founder Daniel K. Ludwig.
