They are primarily interested in treatments, not cures. Do they see this kind of research as a threat?”

Enbrel to treat rheumatoid arthritis approved in Japan

Wyeth K.K. and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (Takeda) have announced that Enbrel (etanercept) has been approved by the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in patients who had an inadequate response to existing therapies.

Physicians are challenged in treating heart patients who may be at high-risk for gastrointestinal bleeding from aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Factors that place patients at high-risk include a history of ulcers or gastrointestinal complications such as bleeding, increased age and congestive heart failure.
