A pregnancy test is used to determine whether a woman is pregnant by measuring a pregnancy marker found in urine and blood called human chorionic gonadotropin. Most pregnancy tests are highly sensitive and accurate, with some detecting pregnancy up to almost a week before menstruation is due.
