Noninvasive ventilation should be used during an infectious outbreak contrary to current policies

The BBVA Foundation and the Cardiology Service of Madrid's Hospital Clínico San Carlos have launched a new study aimed at detecting DNA alterations linked to sudden cardiac death in sports. Genetic testing is vital if the condition is to be caught in time, since most cases are asymptomatic and hard to diagnose by other means.

NIH funds the University of California's consortium for immune disorder research

The University of California, San Francisco has been designated to lead a new consortium that will study a group of severe immune disorders known as primary immunodeficiencies and aims to improve treatment for these often life-threatening diseases. The Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium comprises 13 centers throughout the United States and has a $6.25 million funding commitment over five years from the National Institutes of Health.

Aeolus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has completed a $1.65 million financing with several existing institutional shareholders, all of which are affiliates of Xmark Opportunity Partners, LLC. Under the terms of the financing, Aeolus received $1.65 million in gross proceeds in exchange for 5,892,857 Units (the “Units”), with each Unit comprised of one share of Aeolus Pharmaceuticals common stock, and a seven year warrant to purchase up to two additional shares of Aeolus Pharmaceuticals common stock at an initial exercise price of $0.28 per share, for a per Unit purchase price of $0.28.
