Human tumors with MET amplification respond to MET inhibitor drugs

A subset of colorectal cancers responds to anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (anti-EGFR) therapies, but develops resistance within months. Among cancers that develop resistance to anti-EGFR therapy, some showed overexpression of a gene called MET, according to a study published in the June issue of Cancer Discovery, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

CGH, FISH techniques effective for postmortem analysis of fetuses, infants with congenital anomalies

New techniques to detect chromosomal abnormalities can offer a higher degree of accuracy. Chromosomal abnormalities are a well-known cause of multiple congenital anomalies, and conventional methods of culture analysis have proven unsuccessful in 10% to 40% of cases. Comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques were tested and found successful by analyzing tissue from children who had multiple congenital anomalies.

Infinity announces Phase 2 clinical trial results of IPI-504 for NSCLC

Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today reported the results from its Phase 2 clinical trial of IPI-504, the company's i.v.-administered Hsp90 chaperone inhibitor, in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
