Helicos Genetic Analysis System to be installed at the Leiden Genome Technology Center

Helicos BioSciences Corporation, today announced the sale of a Helicos® Genetic Analysis System to a collaborative Dutch research group led by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), further including the medical centers of Amsterdam (AMC) Groningen (UMCG) and Rotterdam (Erasmus MC) and funded by a grant from NWO, the Netherlands Organization of Scientific Research.

NIH awards $3 million grant to ASU professors for research on rapid DNA sequencing technology

Arizona State University has been awarded nearly $3 million in federal stimulus funds from the National Institutes of Health. ASU professors Stuart Lindsay and Paul Westerhoff will lead a pair of two-year, innovative projects designed to tackle challenges in the fields of rapid DNA sequencing and the potential health risks of nanotechnology.

Complete Genomics, a third-generation human genome sequencing company, today announced publication of a report in the journal Science describing its proprietary DNA sequencing platform, including analysis of sequence data from three complete human genomes. The consumables cost for these three genomes sequenced on the proof-of-principle genomic DNA nanoarrays ranged from $8,005 for 87x coverage to $1,726 for 45x coverage for the samples described in this report.
