Now, dermatologists are urging teammates and coaches to be aware of the most common skin conditions caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi that occur in athletes and educating them on how to prevent a widespread outbreak.

Amgen, Pfizer present Enbrel new trial results against psoriasis at 69th AAD meeting in New Orleans, LA

Amgen and Pfizer Inc. today announced results from a new trial that demonstrated Enbrel significantly improved scalp involvement in adult patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, compared with placebo. U-M Medical School earns $368.7 million in NIH research funding during federal fiscal year 2010

University of Michigan Medical School physicians and scientists earned more than $368.7 million in National Institutes of Health research funding in federal fiscal year 2010, according to NIH data. In all, the School's faculty brought in $481.8 million in research funding from all sources in U-M fiscal year 2010.

Small calf muscles may be a feminine trait, but for women with peripheral artery disease they're a major disadvantage. Researchers at Northwestern Medicine point to the smaller calf muscles of women as a gender difference that may cause women with PAD to experience problems walking and climbing stairs sooner and faster than men with the disease.

Tenet signs multi-year agreement with UnitedHealthcare

Tenet Healthcare Corporation today announced it signed a multi-year agreement with UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Pennsylvania that covers Hahnemann University Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. The agreement also covers physicians employed by subsidiaries of the two hospitals. Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
