HHS awards fund to support pregnant and parenting women

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today awarded $27 million to support pregnant and parenting teens and women in states and tribes across the country. Of the funds, $24 million was awarded to 17 states and tribes through the Pregnancy Assistance Fund, created by the Affordable Care Act.

UN Secretary announces global strategy for women and children's health at MDG summit

At the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG) summit in New York this week, world leaders gathered to review progress on the eight goals agreed in 2000 on alleviating world poverty and ill-health by 2015. New approach to prevent psychotic symptoms

New research has linked psychosis with an abnormal relationship between two signalling chemicals in the brain. The findings, published in tomorrow's edition of the journal Biological Psychiatry, suggest a new approach to preventing psychotic symptoms, which could lead to better drugs for schizophrenia.
