Scientists succeed in mapping entire network of DNA-binding transcription factors

In a significant leap forward in the understanding of how specific types of tissue are determined to develop in mammals, an international team of scientists has succeeded in mapping the entire network of DNA-binding transcription factors and their interactions. This global network, indicating which factors can combine to determine cell fate, will be published in the March 5 issue of the journal Cell.

NAF to hold third annual Ataxia Investigators Meeting in Rosemont

The National Ataxia Foundation, in conjunction with the University of Chicago program in pathobiology and translational neuroscience, will hold its third annual Ataxia Investigators Meeting March 9-11, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, in Rosemont, Ill. McKee's research looks into the reasons why calcium-phosphate mineral fails to crystallize properly to form strong bones and teeth.

Specialty pharmaceutical company LEO Pharma today announced that findings from a Phase III study evaluating PEP005 (ingenol mebutate) Gel 0.05% to treat actinic keratosis (AK), a common pre-cursor to skin cancer, were presented at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) (Scientific Session Poster Discussion: P105). Results from REGION-I demonstrated treatment with PEP005 Gel once daily for 2 consecutive days.
