National childhood varicella vaccination program reduces chickenpox hospitalization rates

Since the varicella vaccine was introduced in the mid-1990s, the number of patients receiving medical care for chickenpox in the United States has decreased sharply—particularly among children, according to a study in the March issue of The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. Most influential advances in cardiopulmonary imaging: High-resolution CT and CT pulmonary angiography

Advances in computed tomography providing high-resolution images of the lungs and a new approach to diagnosis of pulmonary embolism are "the most influential" changes in cardiopulmonary imaging over the past 25 years, according to a panel of experts surveyed in the February Journal of Thoracic Imaging official journal of the Society of Thoracic Radiology and the Japanese and Korean Societies of Thoracic Radiology.

YM BioSciences: Two posters on nimotuzumab accepted for presentation at AACR

YM BioSciences Inc., today announced that two posters have been accepted for presentation at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting to be held from April 17-21 in Washington, DC. Automated reminder and follow-up calls for HPV vaccinations increase adherence rates from 5% to over 20%, according to a new white paper published by iReminder, LLC. The Scotland National Health Service is the leader in HPV vaccination compliance, with rates as high as 92% for the first dose and 87.8% for the second dose. The laggard is Mississippi, USA where HPV vaccination rates are as low as 15.8%.
