Brilliant image quality
- The giant transilluminator has a viewing area of 26 cm × 21 cm, ensuring perfect illumination of all gel sizes, including large gels as well as multiple gels
- The camera's scientific-grade 1-inch CMOS sensor has high sensitivity and allows for the detection of nucleic acids at concentrations as low as 2 ng. This enables the capture of every detail with improved precision for publication-quality images, without leaving any band
- The prefocused optical unit enables image capture without the need for manual refocusing, saving time and allowing faster acquisition
- A 20 MPixel color camera offers high-resolution gel images, simplifying the process of choosing the preferred area of interest on the gel
Blue/Green LED: Safe gel imaging to protect users and their samples
UV light is both hazardous and damaging, while conventional blue LEDs often lack sensitivity for many dyes. With the FastGene® FAS‑X, these challenges are eliminated. The system has an advanced Blue/Green LED technology that ensures user safety and delivers high sensitivity, enhancing the quality of results.
- Innovative Blue/Green LED technology prevents the need for using harmful UV light, thereby minimizing associated risk
- Compared to the conventional UV light, which affects the user as well as the sample, this technology performs within the wavelengths of a visible light spectrum ranging from 470 nm to 520 nm. This spectrum is not harmful to the DNA sample or the user and ensures a safer gel documentation process
- Single light source for proteins, RNA, and DNA - By accumulating the light energy absorbed by the fluorophores, the system has the ability to effectively excite a broad range of common green and red (incl. EtBr) DNA dyes as well as fluorescent proteins with very high intensity

Powerful white light
- The additional white light allows for documentation that goes beyond fluorescent gels. The FAS-X’s filter wheel has the benefit of making it easy to switch between the white light mode and fluorescence (blue/green LED light)

- Using a white plate, the white light mode allows users to view the colourimetric PAGE protein gels in high quality. It also provides high-resolution images of bacterial colony plates or (colourimetric) western blot membranes.
