Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today reported results from a retrospective analysis of data from the Company's pivotal PROPEL trial which suggested that treatment with single-agent FOLOTYN may result in increased response rates and progression-free survival relative to the immediate prior line of therapy in patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma.

Hospital prices up, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics

Consumer prices for hospital services increased 0.8 percent in May after a 0.7 percent climb the prior month, show seasonally adjusted figures released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In May 2010, the agency's index of consumer hospital prices increased 0.5 percent.

With stimulus money soon to run out, Medicaid benefits are about to drop

Even though unemployment has gone up, the increased federal Medicaid match will expire at the end of the month. As a result, benefits will likely be cut for many. Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that children with Medicaid are far more likely than those with private insurance to be turned away by medical specialists or be made to wait more than a month for an appointment.

Eating disorders and abuse may increase likelihood of pregnancy and postpartum depression

One in 10 women experience depression during pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. Although the problem has received increased attention in recent years, little is known about the causes or early-warning signs of pregnancy-related depression. In a study published in the June 2011 issue of Journal of Women's Health, researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine offer new clues to help doctors identify at-risk patients and refer them to treatment early on.
