Guardian accreditation confirms that quality out-of-home care costs

Barnardos Australia today becomes the first child welfare agency to be re-accredited under NSW standards as an agency designated to arrange out-of-home care for children and young people. Barnardo's is also the first agency to pilot the new accreditation system, administered by the Children's Guardian, which groups 22 child focused standards into four quality areas.

Positive top-line results from Phenomix' Phase 3 trial of dutogliptin for Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Phenomix Corporation today announced positive top-line results from a six-month Phase 3 study comparing dutogliptin 400mg and 200mg once daily as monotherapy versus placebo for the treatment of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dutogliptin is Phenomix' internally-discovered dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor.

Meridian Bioscience's second-quarter net sales down 6% to $31.1M

Net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 were $31,147,000 as compared to $33,280,000 for the same period of the prior fiscal year, a decrease of 6%. Net earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 were $5,980,000 or $0.15 per diluted share, decreases of 18% and 17%, respectively, compared to the second quarter of fiscal 2009. Diluted common shares outstanding for fiscal 2010 and 2009 were 41,177,000 and 41,133,000, respectively.

Genentech to pay Seattle Genetics $9.5M for renewing licenses under existing ADC collaboration agreement

Seattle Genetics, Inc. today announced that Genentech, Inc., a wholly owned member of the Roche Group, will pay $9.5 million to renew exclusive licenses to specific targets and extend the research term under the parties' existing antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) collaboration agreement.
