OrSense Ltd., developer of monitors for non-invasive measurements of various blood parameters, presented in an oral presentation at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual meeting in San Diego, results showing that hemoglobin (Hb) measurements obtained by its NBM 200MP, a non-invasive Hb measurement system, showed accurate performance during hemorrhage conditions compared with invasive point of care (POC) devices.

HHS awards $4.8 million grant for Teen Prevention Education Program

EC grants orphan drug designation to S*BIO's SB1518 for treatment of myelofibrosis

S*BIO Pte Ltd today announced that the European Commission (EC) has granted orphan drug designation to SB1518, its potent and orally active JAK2 inhibitor for the treatment of primary myelofibrosis (PMF), post-polycythemia vera myelofibrosis (PPV-MF) and post-essential thrombocythemia myelofibrosis (PET-MF). SB1518 has also received orphan drug designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of the same disorder.

St. Jude Medical to acquire AGA Medical

St. Jude Medical, Inc., a global medical device company, and AGA Medical Holdings, Inc., today announced that the Boards of Directors of both companies have approved a definitive agreement under which St. Jude Medical will acquire all of the outstanding shares of AGA Medical for $20.80 per share in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion, including the assumption of approximately $225 million in outstanding debt.
