Genentech announces that Phase III CLL11 study meets primary endpoint

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, today announced positive results from the Phase III CLL11 study. At a pre-planned interim analysis, an independent data monitoring committee determined that the study met its primary endpoint showing that GA101 plus chlorambucil helped people live significantly longer without their disease worsening (progression-free survival; PFS) compared to Rituxan (rituximab) plus chlorambucil.

Spectrum Pharmaceuticals enters into agreement to acquire Talon Therapeutics

Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotechnology company with fully-integrated commercial and drug development operations with a primary focus in hematology and oncology, today announced that, through a wholly-owned subsidiary, the company entered into an agreement to acquire Talon Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company based in South San Francisco, California, and expects to complete the acquisition within one day.

AIFA grants market access for CTI's PIXUVRI to treat patients with aggressive B-cell NHL

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that the Company has been granted market access by the Italian Medicines Agency for the medicinal product PIXUVRI (pixantrone) as a monotherapy for the treatment of adult patients with multiply relapsed or refractory aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (patients with aggressive B-cell NHL who failed 2 or 3 prior lines of therapy).

Genentech's obinutuzumab gets FDA Priority Review for chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted the company's Biologics License Application for obinutuzumab (GA101) and granted Priority Review for GA101 in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, one of the most common forms of blood cancer, based on final Stage 1 data from the pivotal CLL11 trial.

Pfizer halts Phase 3 open-label, two-arm study of lymphoma drug

Pfizer Inc. announced today the discontinuation of a Phase 3 randomized, open-label, two-arm study (B1931008) evaluating the safety and efficacy of the investigational compound inotuzumab ozogamicin in patients with relapsed or refractory CD22+ aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma who are not candidates for intensive high-dose chemotherapy.
