Drug delivery is a term that refers to the delivery of a pharmaceutical compound into the body. Most common methods of delivery include the preferred non-invasive oral (through the mouth), nasal, pneumonial (inhalation), and rectal routes. Much research is now focussing on nanotechnology as a drug delivery method.

Researchers develop magnetic nanoparticles for metallic implant drug delivery

If a drug can be guided to the right place in the body, the treatment is more effective and there are fewer side-effects. Researchers at Lund University in Sweden have now developed magnetic nanoparticles that can be directed to metallic implants such as artificial knee joints, hip joints and stents in the coronary arteries.

Impax Pharmaceuticals completes enrollment in IPX066 Phase III trial for Parkinson’s disease

Impax Pharmaceuticals, the brand products division of Impax Laboratories, Inc., today announced that it has completed enrollment of its ADVANCE-PD trial. ADVANCE-PD is a multinational Phase III trial of its late-stage product IPX066 in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) patients with motor fluctuations. IPX066 is an investigational extended release carbidopa-levodopa product intended to rapidly achieve and sustain effective blood concentrations of levodopa, potentially improving PD clinical symptom management.
