CDC, ZKBS classifies Advaxis Agents as non-pathogenic materials

Advaxis, Inc., a leader in developing the next generation of immunotherapies for cancer and infectious diseases, has received affirmation by the Public Health Service of the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Zentrale Kommission für die Biologische Sicherheit, the Central Commission for Biological Safety in Germany, that Advaxis strains, constructs and immunotherapies have been attenuated to the point that they are classified as non-pathogenic materials for handling and shipment.

Saying the nation's Skilled Nursing Facility sector has contributed significantly to advancing health care reform and deficit reduction in the face of severe state Medicaid funding pressures and other major budgetary challenges, the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care today expressed alarm about the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' newly-published Final Rule ["Prospective Payment System and Consolidated Billing for Skilled Nursing Facilities for FY 2012"], and said it will dangerously destabilize the nation's second largest health facility employer, place patients and their care at deep risk, and put tens of thousands of health jobs in immediate jeopardy.

Therapeutic hypothermia might not be effective for children after heart attack

Intravenous delivery of cold fluids to reduce body temperature quickly after a heart attack and improve neurologic outcomes may not be as effective in children as it is in adults, according to a study reported in Therapeutic Hypothermia and Temperature Management, a peer-reviewed journal published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.
