SafmViewer is now on Google Play – a small, free, view-only companion app for the Semilab AFM family.

As measurement workflows become increasingly connected, quick access to results can shape what happens next: a decision made between experiments, a plan adjusted before the next meeting, a priority clarified on the way to the lab. When results are close at hand, you can move from measurement to action with greater confidence and less delay. Semilab now brings that flexibility to the AFM workflow with SafmViewer – a small, free, view-only companion app for the Semilab AFM family.
We're deliberate about what this is. Our desktop software remains the serious tool for analysis, correction and reporting. SafmViewer was created for one job: getting a measurement onto the screen that's already in your pocket.
That works because Semilab AFM instruments write the widely used Gwyddion format (.safm / .gwy) – and SafmViewer is fully compatible with it. No export step, no conversion. The same file your desktop opens, your phone opens.
Inside you’ll find:
- 2D heatmaps, 20 colormaps, pinch to zoom
- Interactive cross-sections, row by row
- 1D graphs with linear / logarithmic scaling
- Full channel metadata, copy to clipboard
- Graph export to TXT

Built for the moments away from the bench: a student reviewing a scan between lectures, a researcher opening last night's measurement on the way to a meeting, a colleague asking to see that surface over coffee.
This free Android app supports the open-source Gwyddion format, so users can open both Semilab files and other compatible *.gwy data files.
