As is stated here, reading is often considered a left-brain function. But this is considering reading as only the process of turning text into words. However, actual reading is more about turning text into meaning. And this process is largely a right-brain function because the right brain is where our visual and conceptual thinking takes place. Just recognizing words is no better than recognizing dots or dashes. Only the recognition of meaningful ideas is true reading.
