    It's true:  Shaking a baby is dangerous and unacceptable.

    The problem is that the symptoms that have defined the syndrome for the past 30 years can also result from a number of non-abusive causes.  The list of medical mimics has continued to grow, but no one looks back at past convictions to see if innocent parents are still in prison.  My files bulge with improbable convictions, and even the occasional exoneration.  

    Thank you for keeping an open mind about a highly polarized issue.
