Warner Chilcott to acquire U.S. rights to Enablex from Novartis for $400 million

Warner Chilcott plc today announced that it has agreed to terminate its existing co-promotion agreement with Novartis and signed a definitive agreement to purchase the U.S. rights to Enablex® from Novartis for $400 million in cash. Enablex (darifenacin) is a product indicated to treat adults with symptoms of overactive bladder, which had U.S. sales of approximately $190 million for the year ended December 31, 2009.

ONS trial results show promise for treating medically refractory chronic migraines: ONSTIM study

Medtronic, Inc. announced that data from a multicenter, prospective, randomized, blinded, feasibility trial published today show promise for occipital nerve stimulation for treating medically refractory chronic migraines and support the need for further controlled study of the treatment. The study, called Occipital Nerve Stimulation for the Treatment of Intractable Migraine, included severely debilitated patients who had regularly experienced 15 or more headache days per month that were not responsive to currently available medical therapies.

Consumers economizing on healthcare in ways that might be dangerous: Poll

More than two-thirds (69%) of Americans currently taking a prescription drug say drug makers have too much influence on doctors' prescribing decisions and half say that doctors are too eager to prescribe a drug when other non-drug options are available for managing a condition. Those are just some of the concerns raised by Americans in a new prescription drug poll by the Consumer Reports National Research Center. Medtronic launches Defeat-HF clinical trial to evaluate SCS for heart failure

Medtronic, Inc. today announced the global launch of the Defeat-HF (Determining the Feasibility of Spinal Cord Neuromodulation for the Treatment of Chronic Heart Failure) clinical trial. It is the industry's first prospective, randomized study evaluating the clinical feasibility of spinal cord stimulation, or neurostimulation, to improve clinical signs and symptoms of heart failure.

Uroplasty, Inc. announced today that its underwritten public offering of 4 million shares of its common stock was priced at $3.50 per share. Uroplasty has granted the underwriters of the offering an option to purchase up to an additional 600,000 shares of common stock within the next 30 days, solely to cover over-allotments, if any. All of the shares in the offering are being offered by Uroplasty. Uroplasty expects the offering to close on July 27, 2010, subject to customary closing conditions.

Uroplasty broadens neuromodulation patent portfolio

Uroplasty, Inc., a medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets innovative proprietary products for the treatment of voiding dysfunctions, announced today the issuance of United States Patent No. 7,729,772 which covers a method for using an implantable neuromodulation system in the treatment of urinary incontinence by neuromodulation or stimulation of the tibial nerve. The neuromodulation system includes a portable, external transmitter and a receiver implanted subcutaneously in the leg or ankle near the tibial nerve.
