Triple-drug combo inhaler for asthmatics with poor symptom control

New research shows that asthmatics who have poor symptom control could be benefited by using a three-drug combination inhaler. The standard treatment for these patients is a two-drug combination of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and a long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA). The third ingredient added to the mix is a long acting muscarinic antagonist, add the researchers. This combination successfully improved lung function and reduced exacerbations of asthma wrote the researchers.

The Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CNDR) at the University of Pennsylvania has received a grant expected to total $18.1 million to study the underlying genetic mechanisms that cause Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia, and Parkinson's Disease to progress as well as how those mechanisms are related to each other and to the cell-to-cell spread of these disease proteins.
