ThermoGenesis anticipates $7.3 million revenue for fourth-quarter 2010

ThermoGenesis Corp., a leading supplier of innovative products and services that process and store adult stem cells, said today it expects revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, to be approximately $7.3 million and to report a small net loss for the quarter, in the range of $150,000 to $450,000, subject to final audit adjustments. The Company plans to report complete final results for the fourth quarter and all of fiscal 2010 and provide its outlook for fiscal 2011 in mid-September.

Therapeutic workbook to facilitate healing process in Haitian children

"When children can tell their stories about a traumatic event in their own words or pictures and at their own speed, healing can begin," says Dr. Jodie Kliman, psychologist and professor at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (MSPP) in Boston. That is why Kliman led MSPP's collaboration with the Children's Psychological Health Center (CPHC) in San Francisco and Ekol Akasya (Acacia School) in Haiti to create a workbook to facilitate that healing process in Haitian children and to identify those at greatest risk for long-term emotional problems.

New approach of screening drugs that encourage stem cells to repair damaged tissue

Professor Fiona Watt will today (12 July) give the Anne McLaren Memorial Lecture at the UK National Stem Cell Network annual science meeting and will detail a new approach to screening for drugs that target stem cells. To begin with, this is being developed for adult skin stem cells, giving hope for new drugs to promote wound healing and aid the use of stem cells to, for example, treat severe burns. This technique can also be applied to a wide range of stem cells, opening up the possibilities for harnessing stem cells in regenerative medicine.

Merck challenges New York jury decision in federal FOSAMAX retrial

Merck & Co., Inc. today said it is challenging the decision returned by a New York jury in the retrial of a federal FOSAMAX case, Boles v. Merck. This case was the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee's top choice to take to trial and involved a Florida woman who blamed her dental and jaw problems on FOSAMAX. The first case to reach a verdict, Maley v. Merck, resulted in a defense verdict for Merck on May 5, 2010.
