China's so-called "one-child policy has been blamed for abuses," the news service reports.

Casting his re-election along gender lines, President Barack Obama told hundreds of female supporters Friday that Republicans seem determined to meddle in women's health decisions in ways that are "appalling, offensive and out of touch." A recent fight over contraception access, Obama said, was like "being in a time machine." "These are folks who claim to believe in freedom from government interference and meddling - it doesn't seem to bother them when it comes to a woman's health," Obama said during early evening remarks at a women's issues conference.

House votes to use health law prevention fund to help pay for student loan program

The Republican-led House passed legislation to prevent the U.S. student-loan interest rate from doubling on July 1, defying President Barack Obama's threat to veto the measure because it would raid a health-prevention fund to finance the subsidy. The bill to extend the subsidy for one year passed on a 215-195 vote.

As immature cells, neural stem cells must stick together in a protected environment called a niche in order to divide so they can make all of the cells that populate the nervous system.
