Debate over benefits and privacy concerns in the proposed Australian e-health scheme

There has been a move towards complete computerization of health and related information in the Australian Government’s e-health scheme that will be set up in the next two years. This scheme is purported to cost $467 million of taxpayers’ money. The plan has been criticized because of the fear that all test results; prescriptions etc. will then be available on a national database and accessible over the internet.

Older Americans staying sexually active but not practicing safe sex

Sexual activity continues to thrive with the 45+ demographic according to a new AARP sex survey, Sex, Romance, and Relationships: AARP Survey of Midlife and Older Adults, released today. However, older adults are not necessarily practicing what they preach to younger generations, with results showing a low use of protection among sexually active dating singles with only one in five reporting use of condoms regularly.

Massachusetts fighting to control health costs

Eleven years later, it took a big Tennessee-based, for-profit hospital chain to keep it in business," the (Worcester, Mass.) Telegram & Gazette reports. In light of a recent report by Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley's office, many are surprised Athol is around at all.

The Fiscal Times: "Authorities in over 25 states are investigating [the] insurance company, American Trade Association (ATA), and have uncovered what they believe is a deep well of scams that ensnared an estimated 12,000 people who paid about $14 million in premiums.
