Encouraging preliminary results from Synta's ganetespib Phase 2 trial against non-small cell lung cancer

Study: HT may affect symptom load and quality of life unrelated to hypothyroidism

Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an inflammatory disorder of the thyroid, is the most common cause of hypothyroidism, but a study has suggested that even when thyroid function is normal, HT may increase symptoms and decrease quality of life, as described in an article in Thyroid, a peer-reviewed journal published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.

Less-toxic combination of immune-based drug and chemotherapy drug produce long-term remissions in CLL

New research shows that a less-toxic combination of a targeted immune-based drug and a chemotherapy drug can produce long-term remissions in some chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients. And it does so without increasing the risk of later therapy-related myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia, which can often occur with a three-drug combination used to treat these patients.

Takeda receives Japanese approval for additional indications for NESINA

Furiex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today confirmed that Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited's applications for two additional indications for "NESINA®" (alogliptin), combination therapy with sulfonylurea and combination therapy with biguanide for type 2 diabetes, were approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Enrollment commences in NORDIC implantable cardioverter defibrillator clinical trial

BIOTRONIK SE & Co. KG announced today the start of the NORDIC ICD clinical trial.
