Vermillion, Quest Diagnostics enter agreement to launch OVA1 IVDMIA assay in India

Vermillion, a molecular diagnostics company, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Quest Diagnostics to make OVA1 available in India. The companies are targeting a launch in the second quarter of 2011. People with lung cancer more likely to have high-risk forms of HPV antibodies

Researchers with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) have found that people with lung cancer were significantly more likely to have several high-risk forms of human papillomavirus (HPV) antibodies compared to those who did not have lung cancer. These results, which were presented at the AACR 102nd Annual Meeting 2011, held April 2-6, indicate that HPV antibodies are substantially increased in people with lung cancer.

Insulin could play a new role in fighting Alzheimer's disease: Research

A low dose of insulin has been found to suppress the expression in the blood of four precursor proteins involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, according to new clinical research by University at Buffalo endocrinologists. The research, published in March online in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, suggests that insulin could have a powerful, new role to play in fighting Alzheimer's disease.
