Boehringer Ingelheim and Duke expand collaboration to create largest patient registry for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) announced today the expansion of the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis – PROspective Outcomes (IPF-PRO) Registry, a patient registry developed to uncover insights into IPF, a rare and serious lung disease. The expansion will increase the study enrollment from 300 patients at 18 study sites to 1,500 patients at approximately 45 sites, creating the largest registry of newly diagnosed IPF patients.

Agendia, Inc., a world leader in personalized medicine and molecular cancer diagnostics, announces the peer-reviewed publication of the primary outcome results of the Microarray In Node-negative and 1 to 3 positive lymph node Disease may Avoid ChemoTherapy (MINDACT) clinical trial in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). (i, iii, iv) The publication demonstrates that 46% of breast cancer patients considered for chemotherapy, whose tumors are classified MammaPrint Low Risk, have excellent survival without chemotherapy, and can thus be candidates to avoid this toxic therapy.

Preimplantation genetic screening using next generation sequencing: an interview with Dr Luis Alcaraz

PGS, Preimplantation Genetic Screening, is a genetic test that analyses biopsied cells from embryos produced by in vitro fertilization (IVF) techniques. PGS determines whether the embryos are chromosomally normal (euploid) or not (aneuploid), thus giving the chance to transfer chromosomally normal embryos that are more apt to successfully implant and develop into a pregnancy.
