TomoTherapy signs purchasing agreement with GNYHA Services

TomoTherapy Incorporated, maker of the TomoTherapy® treatment system for advanced, CT-guided radiation therapy, announced today that it has signed an equipment supply group purchasing agreement with GNYHA Services, Inc. Pursuant to this agreement, TomoTherapy technology will be made available at contracted rates to more than 220 member hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.

Efficacy of Instanyl in management of breakthrough cancer pain demonstrated

New data presented today further demonstrate the efficacy of Instanyl in management of breakthrough cancer pain. The data which were presented at the 6th congress of the European Federation of Chapters of the International Association for the Study of Pain (EFIC) are from a multinational, crossover trial comparing Instanyl with oral transmucosal fentanyl citrate (OTFC) for the treatment of breakthrough pain in patients with cancer.

A team of scientists at the University of California, Riverside has found that even second-hand tobacco smoke exposure can result in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a common disease and rising cause of chronic liver injury in which fat accumulates in the liver of people who drink little or no alcohol.

Vitapath Genetics closes $6 million series A round of funding

VitaPath Genetics, a molecular diagnostics company, announced today that it has closed a $6 million series A round of funding led by MDV-Mohr Davidow Ventures. VitaPath was originally seeded by X/Seed Capital, which also co-invested in the Series A. Phase II human clinical trial of Exsulin commences

Exsulin Corporation today announced the start of a phase II human clinical trial of Exsulin, a peptide drug product aimed at restoring insulin production in people with diabetes mellitus. Data from a long-term open-label extension study from the first Phase 3 Fampridine-SR trial, known as MS-F203, showed that 24.9% of extension study participants with multiple sclerosis (MS) met the criteria as Extension Timed Walk Responders (ETWRs) after one year of treatment and demonstrated improved walking speed over a two year period.
