Originally it was the aspect of medical science dealing with the medical use of electromagnetic energy emitted by X-ray machines or other such radiation devices for the purpose of obtaining visual information as part of medical imaging.

Health Discovery Corporation has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a notice of allowance of HDC's patent application covering methods for selection of kernels, i.e., functions or algorithms that are used to transform input data into a different configuration, known as "feature space", which allows for easier recognition of patterns within the data.

Intensity modulated radiation therapy better for sparing bladder when treating prostate cancer

When treating early-stage prostate cancer, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) spares the bladder significantly more from direct radiation when compared to 3-D conformal proton therapy (3D-CPT), but the amount of rectal sparing is similar with both treatments, according to a study released in the October issue of the International Journal for Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, the official journal of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
