Xeltis completes enrollment for study of spontaneous tissue growth technology

New class of drugs developed to treat cancer, reduces sudden cardiac death risk after heart attack

A researcher at the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at Rhode Island, The Miriam and Newport hospitals has found that a new class of drugs, originally developed to treat cancer, reduces sudden cardiac death risk after a heart attack. The findings were published online in advance of print in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

On February, 5, orthopaedic surgeon Thomas Ferro, MD, successfully performed a total knee replacement procedure using Insurgical single-use orthopaedic power tools. This operation marked the first time FDA cleared single-use, cordless, handheld power tools were used in an orthopaedic operation in the United States. Specialty surgical power tools used to cut and shape bone are required in over 1.5 million orthopaedic procedures annually in the United States.
