Celgene Corporation announced that as a result of Barr Laboratories, Inc., withdrawing its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for thalidomide with the US Food and Drug Administration, the US District Court for the District of New Jersey has granted the requested dismissal of all claims and counterclaims in the thalidomide patent cases.

New data highlighting Pfizer's approach to cancer drug development to be presented at ASCO meeting

Pfizer Oncology will present new data highlighting the company's focused approach to cancer drug development through the identification and validation of molecular targets. These results will be presented at the 46th Annual American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago from June 4-8.

Telik, Inc. today reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010. The net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 2010 was $5.3 million, or $0.10 per share, compared with a net loss of $7.7 million, or $0.14 per share, for the same period in 2009.

Phase II study: Hepatitis C patients receiving ANA598 bid plus SOC attain undetectable levels of virus

Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that 72% of hepatitis C patients receiving ANA598 400 mg twice daily (bid) plus standard of care achieved undetectable levels of virus at week eight in an ongoing Phase II study, compared to 38% of patients receiving placebo plus SOC.

Results of study comparing REMICADE to azathioprine for Crohn's disease published

Findings published today in The New England Journal of Medicine from a first-of-its-kind comparator trial evaluating the anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha biologic treatment REMICADE (infliximab) in the treatment of moderately to severely active Crohn's disease in patients who were naive to immunomodulator and biologic therapy, showed that a significantly greater proportion of patients receiving REMICADE achieved steroid-free remission and mucosal healing compared with patients receiving azathioprine.

Cancer patients continue to be affected by FN as a result of chemotherapy: Survey

Thirty percent of patients surveyed experienced an infection as a result of chemotherapy, 45 percent of which were associated with neutropenia or febrile neutropenia according to findings from a pan-European patient and nurse survey presented today at the 7th Annual European Oncology Nursing Society Spring Convention.

Genzyme presents 4-year follow-up data from Phase 2 MS trial at neurology meeting

Genzyme Corporation today reported four-year follow-up data from its completed Phase 2 multiple sclerosis (MS) trial showing an estimated 71 percent of alemtuzumab treated patients remain free of clinically-active disease as much as three years after most patients received their last course of the investigational compound. The data were presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting.
